Sri Lanka Rugby Union (SLRU) is committed to growing Rugby and is conducting a series of World Rugby Training & Education (T&E) programs targeting all provinces across the country.

There is a growing demand for qualified Coaches and Match officials to cope with the sharp increase in number of players, and the SLRU is focusing its attention on T&E as part of the program.

In June 2019, 26 participants took part in the World Rugby L1 Match Official and Coaching course in Kuranagala district in North Western Province, & the program moved on to Avissawella, in Sabaragamuwa Province where the SLRU trained 9 more participants in coaching and 12 participants in officiating, 11 of the participants are physical training instructors.
