All eyes on Asia Rugby’s revamped Sevens Trophy. Asia Rugby announced plans to adjust the 2021 competitions calendar to hold sub-regional sevens competitions.
The sub-regional competition renamed The Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy and will be featuring all 34 member unions to return to play and to participate in their respective sub-regions for both men and women delivering on Asia Rugby’s pledge of Equality.
Training and Education courses in all strands targeting the specific needs of each region and ensuring safe ‘Return to Play’ have been scheduled virtually leading up to and during the tournament dates, and each tournament will act as the final staging ground for the face-to-face components of the higher-level and refresher courses.
Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy
All 34 unions will have the opportunity to take part at the following events:
– Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens Trophy West Asia 7s hosted by Lebanon in September.
– Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens Trophy South and Central Asia 7s hosted by Uzbekistan in October.
– Asia Rugby Men’s and Women’s Sevens Trophy East and South East Asia 7s hosted by Thailand in November.
Asia Rugby Sevens Series, Asia Rugby Men’s 15s Championship and Asia Rugby Women’s 15s Championship are all planned to go ahead as per the calendar as they serve as the Asian qualifiers for the upcoming Rugby World Cup 15s and 7s.
