The Syrian High Rugby Committee was formed by the Syrian Sport Council in March 2012, Rugby has been played at the in Syria for 13 years when the Damascus Zenobians Rugby team, was established in 2004 by European expatriates living in Syria.

Syrian Rugby became a member in Asia Rugby since May 2015 and Currently 5 teams registered in Damascus, (Zenobians, AIU, IUST, QPU, Victory)
In 2008, the team, reached the final of the Gulf Men Cup. This led to a massive increase in number of players which managed in the final to win the Gulf Men Open in Dubai Rugby in 2011 and gave the Syrians, the insperation to form the Syrian High Rugby Committee , SHRC has worked hard on the players recruitment, & succeeded in forming clubs and join Asia Rugby in order to participate in Asian Rugby Tournaments and aspire to increase the sports popularly in Syria.
